Teaching Philosophy

While a student at Stella Adler Studio for Acting, I was introduced to the statement “growth as an actor and growth as a human being are synonymous.” This statement sits at the root of my own approach to teaching, gleaned through a lifetime of consistent study and practice of performance. I firmly believe that the more an artist knows and understands themself, the more authentically they can communicate the truth of a character or story in their performance, design, or direction. As a teacher, I invite students to discover a deeper understanding of the whole self through an introduction and examination of various ideas and techniques that amplify their individual strengths and skill sets.
